Humanize an AI-drafted cover letter

Recruiters read hundreds of cover letters and can spot the AI ones in a line: 'I am writing to express my strong interest in the [role] position at your esteemed organisation.' They blur together because they say nothing only you could say. AntiGPT rewrites the letter so it reads in your voice and foregrounds the specific, true thing that makes you worth interviewing. It does not, and should not, invent experience you don't have.

Be truthful first, then human

A cover letter is a claim about you that you may have to defend in an interview. A humanizer improves how the letter reads; it must never change what is true about your record. Before you rewrite, make sure every sentence is something you can stand behind: a project you actually shipped, a responsibility you actually held. Then humanize, so those true things read like you rather than like a template.

This matters more than usual because inflated cover letters unravel in interviews. The strongest letter is specific and modest: one real accomplishment described concretely beats three vague superlatives.

What a good rewrite fixes

AI cover letters over-hedge, over-formalise, and bury the one interesting fact under boilerplate. Enhanced mode restructures the letter so it can open with something real, varies the sentence rhythm, and cuts the 'esteemed organisation' register down to plain confidence. Keep the company name, the role title, and any specific requirement you're addressing exactly as they appear in the posting.

Aim for three short paragraphs: why this role, one concrete thing you did that's relevant, and a plain close. Humanize each, then read the whole thing aloud. A cover letter that sounds like a person talking is doing its job.

Tailoring to the role

Paste the job description's key requirement and answer it directly in one sentence of your own before you humanize; that sentence is what a recruiter is scanning for. Use University or Standard readability depending on the field: plainer for startups and trades, more formal for academia and law. The tool adjusts the register; you supply the match between what they need and what you've done.

Run the detector if you like, but the real test here is human: would a hiring manager remember one specific thing about you after reading it? If not, add the specific thing. The rewrite can't invent it.

For non-native English writers

If English is not your first language, draft freely, use an assistant to correct grammar, then humanize in Enhanced or Basic to restore a natural voice. The result should be correct and unmistakably yours, keeping the one memorable detail that a fluent-but-generic letter would sand away.

A worked example

Before

I am writing to express my strong interest in the Marketing Coordinator position at your esteemed company. With my extensive experience and proven track record, I am confident that I would be a valuable asset to your dynamic team.

After

I'd like to apply for the Marketing Coordinator role. Last year I ran the launch emails for a skincare brand's first Black Friday: twelve sends, one spreadsheet, and a 3.1% conversion rate I'm still a little proud of. I want to do that kind of hands-on campaign work somewhere with a bigger list.

The template opener becomes a plain statement; a single concrete, true accomplishment (with a real number and a human aside) replaces the vague superlatives. It gives the recruiter something to remember.

Questions

Will it make me look more qualified than I am?

No, and don't ask it to. It rewrites true statements to read naturally. Inflated letters fail in interviews; specific, honest ones succeed.

Which setting?

Enhanced to restructure a boilerplate draft; Standard or University readability depending on the field.

English is my second language. Will it help?

Yes: correct the grammar with an assistant first, then humanize to restore a natural voice while keeping your specifics.
