What happens to my words if a request fails?
Nothing is charged. When you submit, the words are reserved against your balance; if the rewrite doesn't complete (an upstream timeout or error), the reservation is released and your balance is exactly what it was.
You can see this on the Usage & Billing page: released entries show as ‘refunded’.
